Slow Learners

So, in my day job, I'm a school psychologist. My job is to test kids to determine whether they need special education assistance. Some times, it's clear that students need additional assistance - students in wheelchairs, students with significant behavioral problems, etc. However, there is this large group of children (statistically, 14% of the population - that's part of the way this stuff works (look up the bell curve)) that doesn't qualify for special education that needs additional assistance.

I went to a conference on Wednesday where the presenter talked about these students as a group. There are lots of difficulties for these students because they take longer to catch on to the rules of education (not the actual item, but the general rule).

The presenter's name is Steven Shaw. He has a website with a paid podcast. This really sucks. He should have these things available for free.

So, what I want to do - start a school psychologist podcast. Free. Post it online. Free. Maybe run it with ads if necessary to pay for servers or something.

That's my goal. I don't know if I can make it happen but I'd really like to.

Oo oo! Call on me!

Have you been watching any of Gary V's latest video blogs? (His personal ones, not the WLTV ones) They've been all about starting up your own video blog, but it certainly would apply towards a podcast.

You should totally do it!

I have to admit that I haven't seen or heard much of anything that Gary has been doing. When I referred you to him it was just because I knew that he reviewed wines in a similar way that you review beer.

I should probably check it out. I did a Google search and found one "School Psychology Podcast" which drones on in monotone. I know that I don't want to do that.

I'd like to do a call in, similar to a TWiT or maybe Jumping Monkeys with a call in phone number...

Anyway, just a thought. I can't publish a blog regularly, Twitter regularly, etc, so why should I think that I could podcast regularly?

The last few have been very much focused on how to start your own show. The same rules would apply to a podcast instead of a video blog.

Here's a few:

As far as you being regular (har har), that's all under your control. If you want it, build it man! It sounds like you have identified a need in the area.. you could fill it.
